St. Mark's Basilica

The Basilica di San Marco, as St. Mark's Basilica is called in Italian, was consecrated by the Venetians in 832 AD. However, construction began two years earlier. However, a severe fire in the 10th century destroyed the imposing church. St. Mark's Basilica has only had its present appearance since the late 11th century.

You will find St. Mark's Basilica in the middle of St. Mark's Square. You can hardly miss it! After all, this building is one of the most important architectural masterpieces of Venetian architecture.

Inside the church, you will find the relics of St. Mark as well as beautiful decorations. Especially the elaborate mosaics will completely inspire you!
